Isi Ewu and Nkwobi our African delight.

Hello, darlings! It’s another awesome food recipe Friday and I’m excited to share this recipe with you all. This food is something a lot of us eat and enjoy, but, may not know how to prepare it. Don’t fret I’ll put you through the preparation of Isi Ewu and Nkwobi. We will be cooking a two course meal.

 

Let’s jump right into it then..

First Course: Isi Ewu

Recipe:

Goat head

Ehulu (African nutmeg)

Potash

Palm Oil

Onion

Dry pepper

Ground Cray Fish

Salt

Maggi

Utazi

 

METHOD

Boil the well washed Goat head and season with Salt, Maggi and Onion.

Roast the Ehulu and pound in a mortal.

Then add the Pepper, Crayfish and the Goat head brain and pound together.

Add oil and stir.

Meanwhile dissolve your potash in water.

Add the water from the dissolved potash in to the mixture and stir.

Add the cooked goat head and mix thoroughly.

Dish out head mortal/ small mortar. Then sprinkle the Utazi leaf on it, then garnish with onion.

And there you have it your Isi Ewu is ready, serve with palm wine or any chilled drink of your choice.

 

Second Course Meal:  Nkwobi

Recipe:

Cow leg

Potash

Palm oil

Dry Pepper

Ehulu

Dry Cray Fish

Oporo

Ugba

Onion

Utazi

Salt

Maggi

METHOD

Boil the well washed Cow leg and season with Salt, Maggi and Onion.

Roast the Ehulu and pound in a mortal.

Then add the Pepper, Crayfish and pound together.

Add oil and stir.

Meanwhile dissolve your potash in water.

Add the water from the dissolved Potash into the mixture and stir.

Add the cooked Cow leg and mix thoroughly.

Dish out in a small mortar. Then sprinkle the Utazi leaf on it, then garnish with Onion.

Basically the steps are just same as that of the Isi Ewu the only tinzy bitty difference is the Cow leg as the main ingredient and voila! You did it. Nkwobi is ready, serve with Ogogoro/ Palm wine or any other alcoholic or nonalcoholic drink of your choice.
