Just In: 8 Tricks To Slaying Your Style While Staying Comfortable
For the past few seasons, fashionable ladies everywhere have traded in their stilettos for a pair of stylish sneakers.
In an effort to prolong the life of this comfort-first mindset that’s currently trending, we thought we’d round up different ways to look stylish while staying comfortable.
Trick 1: Be Feminine
Although there are times that you love nothing more than slouching in your scruffs with some ice cream and a movie, this isn’t the best look if you’re heading out to meet girlfriends for dinner or you’re venturing out on a date. The best thing about a maxi dress is that you can draw as little or as much attention to your pins as you desire and there is plenty of flexibility to be had with your style choice. You could opt for the halter neck, the open back or the low neckline. The possibilities are endless.
Trick 2: Skinny Jeans
There isn’t a more perfect denim attire than skinny jeans to highlight your svelte lower appendages. By selecting a long length, high top super skinny in dark stonewash or black, you will enhance the illusion of length. This hue is also perfect for the capsule wardrobe advocates amongst us, acting as an ideal foundation for many outfits. You could dress down by whipping on a pair of sneakers and a hoodie or dress up with some kitten heels and a boyfriend blazer.
Trick 3: A Statement Sweatshirt Says A Thousand Words.
Instead of reaching for an ordinary, solid sweatshirt, pick one with a cheeky phrase to give your outfit personality. Finish the look with a bright coat swung around the shoulders and a cool pair of sneakers.
Trick 4: Don’t Neglect Your Feet
If you want to accentuate your height, then you can choose from a variety of wedge heels, platforms or stiletto bottomed shoes. However, if you ache to banish the inches from your already taller frame, flats are the more sensible choice. Cute ballet pumps, loafers, brogues and sneakers should be part of your armory when it comes to footwear.
If you’re keen to experiment with boots, ensure that you select an ankle or mid-calf length rather than the more eccentric thigh-high footwear. This way, you’ll be able to divert attention away from your legs so the rest of your attire can sing.
Trick 5: Pajama pants are totally acceptable
If you’re doing the comfortable pants dance, style them with an It-girl jacket and sleek accessories.
Trick 6: Sweat(s) it out.
Encouraging you to wear sweats in public might sound silly, but follow how this street styler wore hers and you’ll love the look in no time. She paired her sweats with a structured blazer, striped top, and crisp white sneakers for a cool, contemporary outfit.
Trick 7: Sneakers, sneakers, sneakers.
We know you’re already aware that you can wear your sneakers outside of the gym, but we thought you might enjoy a little outfit inspiration, courtesy of Giovanna Battaglia.
Trick 8: Half-tuck your way to success.
We are big fans of the half-tuck here at Who What Wear, and that goes for outfits that involve relaxed pieces, like slouchy tees and drawstring pants!
