NFF face possible sanctions from FIFA whilst Ola Aina allowed to join the Super Eagles
Nigerian football federation (NFF) could be penalised by Fifa for Odion Ighalo’s celebration towards acquiring the first goal against Cameroon.
During Ighalo’s outburst of happiness, he lifted up his shirt to unveil a message which according to Kwesé Espn read “Thank You Jesus”.
The 28-year-old striker was immediately booked by Egyptian referee, Ghead Grisha with a yellow card on Friday in Uyo.
In accordance with FIFA regulations it forbids the display of unsanctioned commercial, political, religious or personal slogans or statements in undershirts.
It is anticipated that Referee Ghead Grisha report of the match will contain the incident for deliberation by FIFA.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Ola Aina has been allowed to make an international switch to play for the Super Eagles, hopes are high that he will feature in the battle today at 6 pm in Yaounde.
Ola Aina is a Chelsea defender currently on loan at Hull City, He is a Nigerian, born in England where he featured at youth level in England’s U-16 through U-20 but has now pledged his international future to Nigeria.
