Ibrahimovic to miss FA Cup quarterfinal tie with Chelsea

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss Manchester United’s FA Cup quarterfinal clash with Chelsea on Monday night after being hit with a three-game ban for elbowing Tyrone Mings.

The striker will miss United’s next three domestic matches after he admitted an FA charge of violent conduct and accepted the penalty.

As well as missing the Chelsea clash on Monday, Ibrahimovic will also be absent for the trip to West Brom on March 19 and the fixture at home to West Brom on April 1.

The FA released the following statement: ‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of violent conduct and accepted the standard penalty.

‘It follows an incident in or around the 44th minute of the game between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth on Saturday (4 March 2017).

‘The misconduct was not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on video.’
