Fernando Torres released from hospital
Fernando Torres has been released from the hospital after an overnight stay following a horrifying head injury suffered in Atletico Madrid’s match against Deportivo on Thursday night.
Torres landed heavily after an aerial battle with Alex Bergantinos in the 1-1 draw and had to be stretchered off the pitch before spending the night in hospital, but he’s been cleared following an MRI and a CT scan. He is however not allowed to take part in any footballing activity for the next 2 days.
Upon leaving hospital, Torres has thanked everybody for their support and intends to return to training soon.
“Thank you all for worrying about me and for your messages of support. It’s just been a scare. I hope to come back very soon,” Torres said.
His manager Diego Simeone was visibly disturbed following the collision as were the other players but should be relieved now that the Spaniard is out of the hospital.
“I felt a noise from the bench, I do not know if it was the neck, but something felt, these are unfortunate situations that happen in the game, Simeone said after the match.
“Worried, nervous, are the feelings after a blow as strong as he has received.”
