Enugu Rangers’ Amapakabo talks tough ahead of CL clash with last year’s runner-up Zamalek
Nigerian Champions Enugu Rangers are away in Egypt for the first leg of a massive clash with heavyweights Zamalek on Sunday and Imama Amapakabo, Rangers manager, has informed members of the press that his team are ready and not in anyway intimidated by the Egyptian side’s pedigree.
Rangers defeated Algerian team JS Saoura via the away goals rule in a one-all draw while last season’s runner-up Zamalek were exempt from the preliminary round.
Speaking to ahram.org Amapakabo opined that his team has already faced tough opposition in the Champions League this season and are prepared for anything Zamalek would throw at them, “I think JS Saoura is a better team than Zamalek I make bold to say that.”
“At times when I talk, people say that I’m either not sane, arrogant or mad.”
“We embraced it and here we are Zamalek lie in the wait for us.”
Zamalek are bidding for their sixth continental title, while Enugu Rangers eye their first coming closest in 1975 when they went all the way to the final.
