Why We Do Not Need The New WhatsApp Features
WhatsApp is now a family name. Both old and young use it to send instant messages in form of texts, pictures or even videos. With every single update, WhatsApp has continued to attract more users. Even telegram with its own cool features can’t meet up at least for now.
Recently another update included a Status update which can enable you to share live videos and pictures of yourself. An exact replica or maybe just similar to what we have on Snap chat and Instagram stories.
Yes, this update is amazing but almost unimportant. Why make WhatsApp have similar features to snap chat and Instagram. Whatsapp integrates all your contacts so, almost everyone foe and friend alike can now see your status or should I say stories. The privacy option doesn’t do much for you this time.
Ever since WhatsApp integrated video calling, a lot of BBM users and people disappointed with skype have become more dedicated to their WhatsApp. This new feature may be great but isn’t needed.
I updated a story and contacts from way long ago started chatting me up and calling me. Please, I believe there was a reason we stopped communicating and this just wouldn’t change the status quo.
What we really need from WhatsApp
- Retractable messages. We need to be able to retract sent messages. I don’t know why this has stalled for so long.
- We do not need people adding us into groups without our approval.
- We need a cloud storage. Where we can save messages or notes we want to review later. Starring the message doesn’t do much.
- This may be far fetched but it definitely wouldn’t be a bad idea if the privacy settings included approving someone before they can send you a message.
I tried doing a lot of Status updates today and it seems like it was just an attention drive. I will stick to my snaps and IG stories for now.
