UCL: Barcelona humbled by PSG, Benfica punish wasteful Dortmund
Goals for Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler and Edison Cavani gave Paris St Germain a shock four nil victory over Barcelona in the Champions League Round of 16.
Di Maria opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a brilliant freekick past Ter Stegen and it was just the beginning as Draxler finished off some brilliant work from Veratti to hand PSG a two nil lead at halftime.
The second half began in much the same way as the first with Di Maria scoring within ten minutes of the restart and Cavani wrapped up the win in the 72nd minute to hand Barca their heaviest defeat in the competition since they lost by the same margin to Bayern in 2013.
The scoreline leaves the Blaugrana with a seemingly impossible task in two weeks when they welcome PSG to the Camp Nou.
Dortmund made to rue missed chances
Borussia Dortmund were beaten by a solitary goal from Kostas Mitroglou just minutes after the restart in their last 16 tie with Benfica at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
The Germans were made to rue several missed chances with star striker Aubameyang a major culprit failing to convert a 58th minute penalty. His shot straight down the middle was firmly parried by Ederson, four minutes later he was substituted with Schurlle coming on.
Tomas Tuchel now has two weeks to find a solution but for captain Luisao, who made his 500th appearance, and Benfica delight at a result which right up until the final whistle might have slipped away.
