Nigerian Cinematographer Yinka Edward Wins A BAFTA Award

Remember when we were excited that a Nigerian Yinka Edward was nominated for the 2017 BAFTA Awards?.

The good news is that he won a BAFTA award for A Love Story, an animated short film which he worked on as co-director of photography.

A Love Story as directed by Anushka Kishani Naanayakkara is an animated short film which was made using a 7 layered multi-plane and 2 rigged puppets. It emerged the Grand Award winner for Best Experimental Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival 2016.

This animation was Edward’s graduating project from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) Beaconsfield, England where he gained a Masters degree in Film and Television Production with a concentration in Cinematography.

Also referred to as the British Oscars, the 70th Annual BAFTA’s were held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
