Nigeria goalkeeper joins Orlando Pirates
Nigeria and Rangers Int’l FC goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel has completed a move to the South African Premier Soccer League to join Orlando Pirates.
Daniel had been drawing eyes with his performances in goal for the Golden Eaglets going back to 2015 when his shot stopping in a tight one nil victory over Senegal in the AFCON semifinal drew plaudits from Coach Siasia as Nigeria went on to win the tournament.
After a Bronze medal outing at the Rio Olympics in 2016 the shot stopper was linked to several clubs including CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns. However league rivals Pirates beat them to the young goalie’s signature.
Daniel could make his debut as early as Saturday against 2nd place side Cape Town City with the Buccaneers goalkeeper banned after receiving a red card in the their last match. Pirates sit 10th in the PSL twelve points off the top with sixteen games played.
