Gernot Rohr drops bombshell on Mikel, Ighalo & others in China
Super Eagles technical adviser Gernot Rohr has advised Nigerian players moving to China that they may find their chances of donning the colours of Nigeria limited.
A number of Nigerian players made the crossing in the winter transfer window including captain Mikel Obi and Rohr while acknowledging the improvement in the league insists that Europe still remains the most competitive and players there will be preferred to their Asian counterparts.
Speaking to OwnGoal Rohr said, “The Chinese League is not as backward as many thought, or it has moved forward from what it use to be.
“But Europe is still where I feel is best for players as the level is very high.
“We have to consider the players in competitive leagues before looking at the players in less competitive league, maybe three players from China would be ideal for our squad.”
With Brown Ideye set to join Obafemi Martins amongst others he may just have been given a reason to reconsider.
