Champions League duo Rangers FC and Rivers United lead the way for Nigeria
Rangers FC and Rivers United gave Nigeria a good showing in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and look poised to complete the job when the 2nd legs are played this weekend.
Rangers FC began the process with a rousing performance in Algeria where they held JS Saoura to a one all draw with a quickfire equaliser from Bobby Clement in the first-half.

The Flying Antelopes are now in pole position to win the tie when they receive the Algerians at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium at the weekend. All they need do is orchestrate a shutout barring, however if the Algerians score they will need to win the match outright to go through.
Rivers United followed through with a most impressive performance at the Modibo Keita Stadium against heavyweights Real Bamako who were kept quiet on their home patch much to the dismay of their fans who left in droves before the whistle went in a battling performance.
The goalless scoreline means that Rivers have a more difficult task ahead of them as they must win the match at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt to progress.
Elsewhere, FC IfeanyiUbah scored a dramatic late winner in Nnewi to win one nil against Egyptian side Al Masry while Wikki Tourists were unable to line their domestic troubles with a victory on the continent. They lost two nil in Sierra Leone against RSLAF and now have a mountain to climb.
