Three Losses In A Row For Mikel In China

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi continues to wait for his first win with new club Tianjin TEDA, losing Tuesday’s friendly against Club Bucuresti by a goal to nothing.

Three fixtures into his Chinese career the midfielder is still awaiting his first win. Mikel made his debut in a friendly with German side Mochengladbach II (not to be confused with the Mochengladbach which plays in the Bundesliga and Champions league). Tianjin lost 2-1, the next match with St Pauli finished 6-2, Mikel turned out in the captain’s armband and got his first goal but lost.

Mikel’s new club are gearing up their preparations for the new Chinese Super League season and will be keen to get better results as they aim to top their 10th place finish last year.
