APC Protests to Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt to Submit Audio Tape

A large crowd of APC Supporters on Friday took to the streets of Port Harcourt in protest against what they say is the level of violence that have characterized elections in Rivers state.

The APC 2015 Deputy Governorship Candidate in Rivers State, Honourable Asita led the protest from the party state secretariat to the Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt where they submitted a protest letter and an audio tape backing their claims.
Speaking at the state police headquarters, Mr Asita said the APC wants the police to investigate what has been submitted to it.

He also urged the police to dismiss calls by Governor Nyesom Wike demanding the immediate transfer of two top police officers in Rivers State, saying DCP Stephen Hasso and CSP Akin Fakarode have done nothing wrong.
Meanwhile, Director- General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside, has called for the prosecution of all those involved in the audio recording alleging electoral malpractices.
A statement by Dr Peterside’s media office in Abuja said that the audio recording showed top officials of Rivers government allegedly offering bribe to INEC officials during the re-run legislative elections in the state.
It said that the allegation contained in the audio record was weighty and needed to be unraveled to serve as deterrent to others and safeguard democratic tenets in the country.
