A don, Prof. Obasi Igwe, has called on the President to revoke the oil block licences issued to individuals in the country.
The Head of Department, Political Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in an interview in Abuja on Thursday, described as an anomaly the fact that few individuals owned oil blocks.
He decried the fact that these individuals with oil blocks were living large with no contributions to the economy, while the government couldn’t pay civil servants their salaries.
Igwe pointed out that taking over the oil blocks would help the Federal Government tackle the economic challenges facing the nation.
The don called on the Federal Government to revoke the licences that have made some Nigerians richer than many African states, yet would not help the country in its time of need.
He stated that there is need for the president to take necessary steps in restoring the hope of Nigerians in him, while pointing out the need for the anti-corruption war to be sustained.
