DJ Obi Guinness World Record for Longest DJ Set


On Wednesday, June 22nd, at11:30pm, DJ Obi kicked off his record breaking journey at Sao Café located in Lekki Phase 1.

He is one of Nigeria’s foremost DJs, who always believes in being able to carve out a space for oneself no matter how crowded the field is, and daring to break the world record is him following his convictions.

This award winning DJ has worked on stage with many top artists including Lupe Fiasco, 2baba, Lynxxx, Banky W, M.I., Naeto C and many others, and he is known for his versatile DJing style with an extremely diverse music catalogue.

He believes when he begins to DJ, his audience should just pull out their passports, because he is taking them on a journey round the world.

By 7am on Friday, July 1, DJ Obi had already surpassed existing Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon Club DJing, which was set at 200 hours in 2014 in Dublin, Ireland, and he is aiming to go as far as 240 hours.

Speaking on his record-breaking attempt DJ Obi before he started, he said: “This is a dream that we’ve been working on for over eight months. It means a lot to me and there’s no better way to show the world that Nigerian DJs are a force.”

Indeed, Nigerian DJs, and Nigerians in other walks of life, are a force to always be reckoned with, and even as DJ Obi steers on toward joining the list of Nigerian World Breakers, he has been receiving immense support from friends, family, fans and other colleagues in the entertainment industry, including Don Jazzy, Lynxxx, Dr Sid and Omawunmi.
