5 steps to good oral hygiene

Step one
§  Medium or regular bristles toothbrush for adults
§  Soft bristles for children
§  Children should use a pea-sized fluoride containing toothpaste to brush.
§  Avoid the use of HARD bristle toothbrush.
Step two
§  Brush with your mouth open.
§  Place your brush upward at an angle to the gum.
§  Brush in a rotational downward movements only
§  Brush the inner and outer surfaces in this way.
§  Brush ‘out’ the chewing surfaces
Step three
§  Brush with your mouth open.
§  Place your brush pointing downward to the gum
§  Make rotational upward movements only.
§  Brush the inner and outer surfaces in this way
§  Brush ‘out’ the chewing surfaces.
Step four
§  Brush the tongue firmly but gently
§  The inner part of the tongue should not be ignored
§  Tongue cleaner can be used.
Step five
§  Use your dental floss to clean between all teeth surface
§  Use of toothpicks should be strongly discouraged
Tips
v  Brush twice daily; after breakfast and after dinner
v  Children should be assisted and supervised while brushing
v  Change your brush every 3 months.
v  See your dentist twice in a year for check up and professional and dental cleaning(scaling and polishing)
