The Indian Government is set to utilize every bit of solar energy as possible, and because of this perspective, they are unveiling the first ever solar panel based train.
Indian Railways is prepared to launch its First Solar panel controlled train in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur city within the next 3-4 days.
This program by the Indian Railways is to make use of alternative energy, the model of this solar based locomotive where the whole train will be fitted with solar panels will be used for the trial.
The train would be pulled by the usual diesel engines. Each board can create 300 Watts in perfect conditions, that will produce 3.6 Kilowatts of power which will be utilized for the load of 1.5 Kilowatts required for the CFL lights and fans inside the coaches.
The first trial of this project would need to be conducted before the profit can be ascertained. If this special type of train is successful then over 90,000 liters of diesel will be spared for every year furthermore it will cut down the carbon dioxide discharge by more than 200 tonnes.
